This position as Manufacturing Automation Engineer is based at the Breas global headquarter in Mölnlycke, Sweden. Breas Medical is owned by the Chinese healthcare group Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. that is traded on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Position summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Manufacturing automation engineer to assist Operations with increasing our automation level within a highly manual electronic assembly production, warehouse, and distribution environment. Using simulation programs to calculate what the next step in our automation journey will be, you will implement automation improvements within sourcing, distribution, manufacturing, and warehouse.

You will be working in collaboration with the operations and the engineering teams, although you will be bringing new ideas and automation skills to improve our manufacturing processes where applicable.

You will have experience within electronics on a PCB/component level. You are socially outgoing, have the attitude to take responsibility for own tasks, competences and beyond. Self-propelled, good at prioritization and structured with the ability to work cross-functionally. Have project or teamwork experience. High communication and documentation skills.  Speaking & writing fluent in Swedish and English. We talk Swedish at the office and our company language is English.  

You will also provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant automation, electrical and production database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing automation related projects and initiatives, including providing status updates.
  • Designing and developing new process control systems and revising/maintaining of existing processes; managing and guiding contractors, consultants, and suppliers; identifying new opportunities and solutions with cost/benefit analysis and making recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  • Interacts with managers and supervisors at plant and corporate personnel to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement controls projects.
  • Works closely with the Production and Engineering Managers to coordinate changes in the production process and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Participates in lean Improvement teams to resolve critical process and production problems with customers and vendors.
  • Develops and maintains automation related systems (PLC/HMI/VFD/Instrumentation/Network) and implements required updates to avoid technical obsolescence.
  • Assists manufacturing teams with any difficult troubleshooting issues.
  • Uses advanced tools / techniques to reduce process variations and downtime.
  • Identifies and resolves special cause variation in the process.
  • Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Plan production flows from overall production process down to separate production lines
  • Optimize material flows in and too production
  • Be part of the industrialization phase of new products into production
  • Give input to design and development of new product regarding DFM/DFA
  • Give input to the design of test systems from a manufacturing and automation orientation.
  • Collects and interprets data from the production process to monitor current equipment performance against established baselines and applies appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintains records of plant and individual equipment performance.
  • Prepares and maintains data sheets, wiring and Process &Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and flow charts required for the proper and efficient operation of plant equipment.
  • Provides training for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in automation, electrical engineering or similar discipline.
  • 5-10 years’ of applied professional experience in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C)/PLC.
  • Previous experience in automation, electrical process control, instrumentation, industrial protocols/networking (switching & routing) and databases.
  • Understanding of integrated automation and information systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Flexible, open-minded team player with written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swedish.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
