When you can’t breathe, nothing else matters. That’s why a career at Breas Medical matters– our mission is to enhance the quality of life and care for respiratory patients worldwide.

We are on a growth and transformation journey and are now looking for a new Data Privacy Officer. We offer a dynamic international setting with a high-performance Legal team. You will report directly to Breas Global General Counsel based in the US.

As Breas’s Data Privacy Officer, you’ll support our growth journey by leading privacy compliance efforts, updating policies, and guiding key stakeholders as well as support the General Counsel with various tasks and projects. This role offers an excellent growth opportunity within an innovative, dynamic setting.

Are you our next Data Privacy Officer?

We’re looking for a hands-on, adaptable Data Privacy Officer to join our team and take ownership of our privacy program. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in steering our organization’s privacy strategy while aligning with key stakeholders across IT, HR, Marketing, and more. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy navigating complex privacy issues, and can roll up your sleeves to tackle tasks, we’d love to meet you.

Main responsibilities

As our Data Privacy Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that Breas remains compliant with data protection laws and regulations across all territories in which we operate. You’ll manage the development, implementation, and oversight of privacy policies and procedures while serving as a key advisor on privacy matters. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you’ll help foster a strong culture of privacy awareness and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain expert knowledge of data protection laws and ensure compliance with EU GDPR and other applicable regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update Breas’s privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations to keep policies current.
  • Conduct assessments (PIAs, DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs) to identify and address privacy risks.
  • Oversee Breas’s data breach response and manage incident response processes.
  • Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to design and deliver privacy training for employees.
  • Respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and ensure compliance with data subject rights.
  • Provide guidance on privacy considerations for new projects, products, and services.
  • Maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs) and conduct regular audits.
  • Review and negotiate Data Protection Agreements (DPAs) and privacy clauses in contracts.
  • Monitor compliance with data protection policies and advise on security procedures.
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Support the General Counsel and Legal team with special projects as needed.

To be successful in this job, we believe that you possess the following requirements and skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or another related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or other relevant data privacy certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data privacy, data protection, or information security roles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing data privacy policies and procedures independently.
  • Strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR and other relevant frameworks.
  • Technical proficiency in data security measures and tools.
  • Analytical skills in identifying and mitigating data privacy risks.
  • Incident management skills to handle data breaches and data subject requests.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You should bring a problem-solving mindset to tackle data privacy issues as they arise, combined with a keen attention to detail to ensure all actions align with legal and ethical standards.

Our ideal candidate has a strong willingness to learn and stay current with the latest developments in data privacy trends and regulations. A positive, “can-do” attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile will help you succeed in this role. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with the ability to manage tasks and projects efficiently while working under the supervision of the General Counsel.

The position is ideally based at Breas HQ in Mölnlycke, Sweden, with a hybrid work arrangement.
