Breas is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation, and we’re looking for a Global Senior Financial Controller to help shape our financial future. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the financial oversight of operational expenditures with a strong focus on Research & Development (R&D), acting as a Global strategic business partner to our R&D teams, as well as IT and HR. Based in Gothenburg, you’ll be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where your insights will directly influence investment decisions, drive financial discipline, and support innovation across the organization.
Main Responsibilities
As Senior Financial Controller, you will play a key role in driving financial excellence across R&D, IT, HR and other operational functions. Your responsibilities will span strategic planning, financial oversight, and business partnering in these cost-intensive functions, ensuring that financial decisions support Breas’ growth and transformation journey.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for R&D, IT, HR and other operational expenses.
- Analyze actual vs. budgeted costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and optimize cost center reporting for supported functions.
R&D Financial Oversight
- Track and report R&D project costs, including capitalized and expensed components.
- Align financial planning with project milestones in collaboration with R&D leadership.
- Support R&D tax credit claims and ensure accurate cost allocation.
IT, HR and other Operational Expense Management
- Monitor and control expenditures including programs, investments and labor cost planning.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements in these domains.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings.
Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic advisor to R&D, IT and HR Leadership Teams.
- Provide financial insights to support investment decisions and resource allocation.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to enhance financial transparency and accountability.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/local GAAP and internal financial policies.
- Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Support statutory audits and regulatory filings related to R&D and operational finance.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, we believe you bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in financial controlling, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D-intensive environment.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong understanding of R&D capitalization, cost tracking, and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JDE), financial planning tools (e.g., Power BI), and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
This position is based at Breas HQ in Mölnlycke, Sweden, with a hybrid work model.
